Hidden complexity

This
makes me cry, but then
this
makes me laugh. Two very different emotions evoked by the same blog site, written by the same person. I tend to think of everything having a single theme, but in reality people are complex and multi-faceted. It's a lesson that hasn't quite made its way into my consciousness. I tend to think of people as being homogeneous, the same all the way through. And then I'm surprised when I see a different side of someone. Emotions and thoughts that I didn't know were there, and that weren't implied by what I already knew about the person.
I'm sure that same complexity is in everyone, but I think I'm a bit out of touch with my own emotions. It's something for me to think about.
